Matt Morgan and Craig Belden

CB... was made Matt know everything have done.
Last Train from Gun Hill (1959), a tense psychological Western based on an original story by television writer Les Crutchfield called Showdown, which was at one time a working title of the movie. According to a Daily Variety news item, Wallis purchased the story in March 1954 as a possible starring vehicle for Burt Lancaster or
Charlton Heston.
Alternative titles: One Angry Day, Showdown at Gun Hill
Directed by: John Sturges
Cast: Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn, Val Avery, Brad Dexter, Earl Holliman, Bing Russell

The showdown ensues at the train station before the last train arrives. Matt Morgan (Kirk Douglas), the town marshal, has only two clues to bad cowboys identity, a fancy saddle with the initials "C.B." now cattle baron in the town of Gun Hill. Belden is sympathetic, until it transpires that one of the murderers is his own son Rick, whom he refuses to hand over.

An enjoyable Western, remarkably similar but much inferior to 3.10 to Yuma, made a couple of years earlier. It's very late in the 19th Century, the frontier has closed. Civilization has arrived.
